In this hatha yoga class I propose that Maha Lakshmi is the Goddess of birth and new beginnings. Since she is the womb that contains all of life, she knows what it is to birth something. When we start new things, we are like babies! It is a good idea to be gentle with ourselves like babies … and to take lots of extra time to rest, sleep and nap like babies! That is how we will integrate all our new information. That is how babies manage in a world where everything is new.

After the teachings on Maha Lakshmi we come into half happy baby pose with a bolster. We also do a hamstring release with the bolster. Then we come into some variations of lunge pose including lizard pose, followed by pigeon and malasana. When we come to standing we do chair pose. We return to the ground for rabbit pose and then locust pose, followed by a front lying twist. Our hatha yoga class finishes with full happy baby pose.
